Supporting Lowther Pavilion
We, the Friends of Lowther Pavilion, are a dedicated group of supporters committed to enhancing and sustaining the theatre for the benefit of the local community. Formed in 2010, we came together when the theatre, which at the time was run by the council and threatened with closure, was handed to the Lowther Pavilion Trust. We were established to provide essential support in ensuring the theatre’s survival and growth.
Fundraising for Theatre Improvements
One of our primary roles is fundraising. Over the years, we have successfully raised significant amounts to support various projects, including the installation of a new sound system, floor refurbishments, and accessibility improvements such as a hearing loop system. Most recently, we have reached our target to fund the drapes and tracks for the new Studio Theatre.
Community Engagement
Engagement with the local community is at the heart of our mission. We run membership schemes that allow individuals to support the theatre while enjoying exclusive benefits. Through these memberships, our supporters contribute to the theatre’s long-term sustainability and gain access to special events, newsletters, and priority booking.
Promoting the Arts
Beyond financial and volunteer support, we actively champion the performing arts. We have provided grants for children and young people, making the arts accessible to all. Our efforts help ensure that Lowther Pavilion continues to inspire creativity, nurture talent, and provide opportunities for aspiring performers and theatre enthusiasts. In addition, we proudly promote Classically Lowther, a program dedicated to bringing high-quality classical performances to the community, enriching the cultural landscape of the Pavilion.
